Changing your name
ausHow do I change the name on my Stake account?
If you need to update your name, you’ll need to provide a few documents so we can verify the change and keep your account details accurate.
What documents do I need?
To process a name change, please provide the following:
A government-issued photo ID showing your full legal name
A selfie of you holding that ID
An official name change document or a Statutory Declaration, depending on the reason
Select “Still need our help?” below to send through the required documents.
Why are these documents required?
These documents help us verify your identity and ensure your account reflects your full legal name — which is important for security, legal and tax purposes.
Does my account name have to match my legal name?
Yes. Your Stake account must use your full legal name, exactly as it appears on your government-issued ID — including your middle name, if listed.
We can’t accept nicknames, abbreviations or shortened versions (e.g. using "Sam" instead of "Samantha"). This ensures your account remains compliant for identity verification, legal and tax purposes.
What counts as an official name change document?
This depends on your reason:
Marriage certificate, divorce decree, or legal name change court order
Statutory Declaration (used for correcting typos or other updates when no official document applies)
If you're unsure which document you need, our support team can help guide you through the process.
