Wall St extended hours orders
wall stHow do I place an Extended Hours order?
To make your order eligible for execution during Extended Hours (pre-market and after-hours), just follow these steps:
Search and select the stock you want to trade
On the order pad, toggle on Extended Hours at the bottom
Read and accept the Extended Hours terms and conditions (if prompted)
Click Review and Submit your order
Will my order still work during market hours?
Yes. Enabling the Extended Hours toggle simply makes your order eligible to be filled in additional trading sessions. If your order conditions are met during the regular market hours (9:30am – 4pm ET), it can be executed then as usual.
If it doesn't fill in Extended Hours, it may still be executed during the regular session – provided your order conditions are met.
What stocks and order types are supported in extended hours?
Limit orders: Available for all stocks during Extended Hours
Market orders: Available for around 1,000 stocks with higher trading volume and liquidity
What expiry types can I use for extended hours?
Market orders: Good for that day only. If unfilled, they're cancelled at the end of the Extended Hours session.
Limit orders: You can choose expiry options including:
Same-day
30-day
90-day (good-til-cancelled)
What if I don’t want my order filled in Extended Hours?
No worries – just leave the Extended Hours toggle off. Your order will be queued for execution during regular market hours.
If you try to place an order outside of regular hours without the toggle on, it’ll be held for the next regular session (9:30am – 4pm ET).
Is there an extra cost trading extended hours?
No – Extended Hours trading doesn’t cost extra. Standard trading fees apply. For more details, see our pricing page.
Are there any order limits in extended hours?
Yes. There are limits depending on the order type:
Market orders
Max order size: US$150,000
Limit orders
Max order size: US$1,500,000
Max quantity: 20,000 shares per order
Why isn’t my Extended Hours limit order executing?
Extended Hours trading typically has lower volume and wider bid-ask spreads than the regular session. If your limit price doesn’t match available pricing during these quieter periods, your order may not fill.
