Top 7 crypto ETFs to watch in 2026

Spot crypto funds hold the actual asset, so their price moves with bitcoin or ether. Blockchain equity ETFs track listed companies, where earnings and management decisions also shape performance.

A crypto ETF holds bitcoin, ether, or shares in companies building or using blockchain technology, and trades on an exchange the way any stock does. All seven funds in this list are U.S.-listed, and they split between those that hold cryptocurrency directly – like iShares Bitcoin Trust ETF ($IBIT) and Bitwise Bitcoin ETF ($BITB) – and those that invest in blockchain-related equities, like Amplify Blockchain Technology ETF ($BLOK).

How we built this list: We selected these funds based on their investment category and relevance to the theme, then ordered them by assets under management. Prices are updated daily, and the list and supporting content are reviewed roughly every quarter. All data is sourced from Stake. This list isn't a recommendation and isn't ordered by suitability.

1. iShares Bitcoin Trust ETF ($IBIT)

IBIT 1-year price chart: down 24.8%, from US$61.21 to US$46.06. Range US$33.29 to US$65.28.

Price: US$46.06 · Daily: -3.7% · AUM: US$68.47B · MER: 0.25%

iShares Bitcoin Trust ETF ($IBIT) is a spot bitcoin fund – meaning it aims to reflect the price of bitcoin directly rather than holding shares in companies connected to the cryptocurrency. The shares are intended to give exposure similar to owning bitcoin, without the need to hold or custody the asset yourself.

BlackRock, which issues $IBIT, is the fund's sponsor. The fund's stated goal is to track bitcoin's price before deducting its expenses and liabilities, so the net return to the fund will trail the raw bitcoin price by the cost of running the trust. Bitcoin's price can move sharply in either direction, which means the fund can too.

2. Fidelity Wise Origin Bitcoin Fund ($FBTC)

FBTC 1-year price chart: down 24.7%, from US$93.96 to US$70.74. Range US$51.05 to US$100.27.

Price: US$70.74 · Daily: -3.7% · AUM: US$14.88B · MER: 0.25%

The Fidelity Wise Origin Bitcoin Fund ($FBTC) holds bitcoin directly. The trust is designed to track bitcoin's performance as measured by an index, with returns adjusted for the trust's expenses and other liabilities. Shares are valued daily at 4pm Eastern Time using the same methodology the index applies.

That structure means $FBTC's performance is tied to bitcoin's price movements rather than to a company's earnings or management decisions. Bitcoin carries significant price volatility, and the fund's value can move sharply in either direction. Fidelity is behind the trust, applying a conventional fund wrapper to a digital asset.

3. iShares Ethereum Trust ETF ($ETHA)

ETHA 1-year price chart: down 37.6%, from US$86.28 to US$53.88. Range US$35.22 to US$95.25.

Price: US$53.88 · Daily: -4.5% · AUM: US$7.85B · MER: 0.23%

iShares Ethereum Trust ETF ($ETHA) is designed to track the price of ether, the cryptocurrency that powers the Ethereum network. Rather than buying ether directly, the fund is intended to give exposure to its price movements through a straightforward share structure – no crypto wallet required.

$ETHA is a direct-holding fund, meaning its performance is tied to the spot price of ether before the Trust's own expenses. Like any asset with this kind of concentration, the fund's value moves with ether's price – up or down.

4. Bitwise Bitcoin ETF ($BITB)

BITB 1-year price chart: down 24.7%, from US$58.60 to US$44.15. Range US$31.86 to US$62.52.

Price: US$44.15 · Daily: -3.6% · AUM: US$3.14B · MER: 0.20%

Bitwise Bitcoin ETF ($BITB) holds bitcoin directly, with its net assets and share price valued daily using the Bitcoin Reference Rate – New York Variant. The fund's objective, according to its mandate, is to reflect the value of that bitcoin minus the Trust's operating costs.

Because $BITB holds the underlying asset rather than equities linked to it, its performance tracks bitcoin's price movements closely. That also means the fund carries the volatility inherent to bitcoin itself, with no equity diversification to buffer price swings.

5. Amplify Blockchain Technology ETF ($BLOK)

BLOK 1-year price chart: down 18.8%, from US$66.71 to US$54.16. Range US$47.36 to US$72.84.

Price: US$54.16 · Daily: -4.0% · AUM: US$967.7M · MER: 0.70%

Amplify Blockchain Technology ETF ($BLOK) takes a different approach to crypto exposure than the direct-holding funds in this list. Rather than holding bitcoin or ether, it invests in equities – companies actively involved in developing or using blockchain technology.

The fund is actively managed, meaning a portfolio team selects and adjusts holdings rather than following a fixed index. It aims to keep at least 80% of its net assets in blockchain-related equities, according to the fund's mandate.

6. VanEck Digital Transformation ETF ($DAPP)

DAPP 1-year price chart: down 32.0%, from US$22.63 to US$15.39. Range US$13.72 to US$25.64.

Price: US$15.39 · Daily: -5.8% · AUM: US$261.8M · MER: 0.50%

VanEck Digital Transformation ETF ($DAPP) is designed to track the MVIS Global Digital Assets Equity Index, a global benchmark built around companies the index classifies as Digital Transformation Companies. The fund holds equities in those companies – shares, not cryptocurrency directly. According to the fund's mandate, at least 80% of its total assets are invested in qualifying Digital Transformation Companies at any time.

The index is global in scope, so $DAPP's portfolio may draw from companies listed across multiple markets. A company's eligibility depends on its involvement in digital transformation, as defined by the index methodology.

7. Global X Blockchain ETF ($BKCH)

BKCH 1-year price chart: down 43.1%, from US$96.54 to US$54.90. Range US$51.82 to US$111.41.

Price: US$54.90 · Daily: -6.0% · AUM: US$214.8M · MER: 0.50%

Global X Blockchain ETF ($BKCH) is designed to track the Solactive Blockchain Index, which aims to capture companies positioned to benefit from further advances in blockchain technology. The fund holds equities – shares in listed companies whose businesses are tied to blockchain's development – rather than cryptocurrency directly.

Because $BKCH invests in company shares rather than tokens or digital assets, its day-to-day movement reflects how those underlying businesses perform, not just shifts in crypto prices. The Solactive Blockchain Index draws from companies across different parts of the blockchain ecosystem, from those building the infrastructure to those embedding the technology in existing products. That breadth means the fund's equity exposure can reach across multiple industries wherever blockchain adoption is taking shape.

Common questions

How do I invest in crypto ETFs in Australia?

All seven funds in this list trade on U.S. exchanges, so you'll need a share trading platform that provides access to U.S. markets. Once your account is set up, you can search by ticker and place an order the same way you would for any U.S.-listed share. The spot crypto funds and the blockchain equity ETFs are accessible through the same type of platform.

What are the key risks of crypto ETFs?

Some of the key risks include sharp price swings in bitcoin and ether, which feed directly into the spot funds' valuations. The blockchain equity ETFs carry the usual risks of listed company shares – earnings results, management decisions, broader equity market moves – alongside their concentration in a single technology area. Regulatory uncertainty around digital assets can affect both crypto prices and the companies built around them. Because all seven funds are priced in USD, movements between the Australian dollar and the US dollar affect what a purchase costs and what any proceeds are worth in AUD.

How do spot crypto funds differ from blockchain equity ETFs?

Spot crypto funds hold the underlying digital asset directly, so their value tracks the cryptocurrency's price. Blockchain equity ETFs hold shares in listed companies whose businesses are tied to blockchain technology; their performance reflects how those companies trade on the market, not just shifts in crypto prices. The equity ETFs also introduce company-specific risk that spot funds don't carry, since a company's share price depends on earnings, management and broader market conditions alongside any crypto-related sentiment.
