Performance chart troubleshooting
How do share transfers into or out of Stake impact my performance?
We aim to ensure transfers are accurately reflected in your performance:
Standard treatment: When shares are transferred into or out of your Stake account, we include them in your performance calculations, similar to how we treat a buy or sell.
How we price it: We’ll first try to use the specific transfer price provided. If that isn't available, we use the official market price of the stock on the day the transfer was completed.
Data gaps: If an older transfer doesn't have any associated price data, you may see an immediate jump (gain) or drop (loss) in your reported performance.
What doesn't change: Manually adjusting your average buy price will update your current holding cost, but it won’t change the look of your historical performance chart.
What happens to my performance chart when a company I own undergoes a major change, like a merger or share buy-back (a 'corporate action')?
When a corporate action causes a stock to be added to or removed from your portfolio, we aim to treat it just like a normal buy or sell.
This means we'll aim to assign a value to the addition/removal of shares, so that the corporate action itself doesn't look like a sudden gain or loss on your chart.
Sometimes, due to the complexity and timing of certain corporate actions, we might not receive all the required historical price data associated with them. This may cause an immediate jump (gain) or drop (loss) in your reported performance.
Why doesn’t this performance match my own numbers?
The performance figure you see might be different from what you calculated yourself because of a few key things we include and exclude, as detailed here.
If you've checked and still believe there’s an error with the calculation, please reach out to our support team via Feedback > Features > Performance chart in this form so we can investigate your specific account details and help clarify your performance.
The accuracy of the data in your performance chart is not guaranteed, as there may be gaps in data from our providers or from corporate actions and share transfers.
Why can’t I find my performance chart?
Performance chart is in beta, so you might not see it just yet. We’re gathering feedback from a restricted number of customers to refine the experience before the wider launch.
Performance chart is in Beta, with access rolling out gradually as we fine-tune the experience.
Your performance chart is for general information only. It shouldn’t be the sole basis for your investment decisions. Values may vary over time, and your actual returns may differ from those shown. Past performance is not a reliable indicator of future performance.
